Quick iPod Shuffle Review
Today I received my iPod Shuffle from the online apple store in the UK.
Here are my thoughts on the iPod shuffle...
The pros...
- As you would expect the shuffle packaging and design is A1 and comes with all the style you would expect from an Apple product, top class.
- Installation is easy and the shuffle integrates nicely with iTunes allowing you to fill the shuffle up with music using a playlist or your entire iTunes library.
- The shuffle is light weight and easy to use, the battery life is excellent and the USB recharge is a great feature.
- Navigating your music on the shuffle is easy and can be done without looking at the buttons and the additional 'laynard', included with the shuffle, allowing you to hang the shuffle from your neck, works well.
The cons...
The iPod shuffle only works with iTunes you can't use it like a hard drive and drag and drop files to it. And annoyingly every time I use the shuffle with iTunes a windows folder pops up with a folder called iPod_control in it??Update:Whoops, you can use the iPod like a hard drive you just need to set the option within iTunes under iPod Shuffle properties.- If you are sharing music from another machine you will not be able to copy the shared music to your shuffle, this is really bad and makes sharing up music pretty useless. To get around this I share up a drive and let each copy of iTunes map to the shared drive, messy.
- I can't find an effective way to integrate my podcasts and music without explicitly copying over the required files.
Overall the iPod Shuffle is an excellent portable player, easy to use and stylish with good integration into iTunes.
